Truffle Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 30, 2026

Truffle is built and maintained by AM2 LLC ("we", "us"). Truffle is a music player for your Plex server. It is designed so that we collect nothing about you.

Summary

  • AM2 LLC collects nothing. There are no analytics, no ads, no tracking, and no account with AM2 LLC.
  • Truffle talks to two places: plex.tv, to sign you in and find your server, and your Plex server, to browse and play your music and to save likes and playlists there.
  • Your Plex sign-in is stored in the iPhone's Keychain. Settings, the queue and the shuffle's progress stay on the phone.

What stays on your phone

  • Your Plex sign-in and the server Truffle plays from, in the iPhone's Keychain.
  • Your settings, the queue, and the shuffle's progress.
  • A saved copy of your artists, albums and playlists, plus album art, so Truffle shows your music the moment it opens.

If you back up your phone with iCloud or your computer, that copy of Truffle's data is governed by Apple's privacy practices, not ours.

Where Truffle connects

Truffle talks to two places:

  • plex.tv, to sign you in and find your server. You sign in on Plex's own page, so Truffle never sees your Plex password. It only gets a sign-in token from Plex.
  • Your Plex server, to browse and play your music and to save likes and playlists there. Like Plex's own apps, it tells your server what's playing, which is how plays land in your history. When nothing else reaches your server, the connection goes through Plex's relay.
  • Like every Plex app, Truffle identifies itself to both with its name and version, your iOS version and device type, and a random ID made when you install it.
  • Truffle does not contact any server operated by us. There is no telemetry endpoint.

Plex's own privacy policy covers plex.tv and Plex Media Server.

Permissions

  • Local Network: to play straight from your Plex server when you're on the same network as it.
  • Background audio: to keep playing when the screen is locked, and for the lock screen and CarPlay controls.

Children

Truffle does not collect data from anyone, including children.

Open source

Truffle's source code is public at github.com/vanities/truffle, so you can verify everything on this page.

Changes

If Truffle ever starts collecting anything, this page will say so first, with a new "last updated" date.
